Thank goodness for friends … friends for all times of the day. Last night my husband was arriving at Chicago Midway Airport after spending a long weekend with my son who is studying in Reno. Long story short his layover in Las Vegas didn’t go as planned. Because of three Covid-19 cases related to the flight tower at Midway, fights were basically grounded, the best SWA could do was send him to the Milwaukee airport or put him on a morning flight, no transfers to other airlines, so you can probably figure out where this story is going … 12:45 a.m. flight to Milwaukee … was not looking forward to being his Uber!
Until … I thought of my good, good friend, my night owl friend, the friend that texts me long after I’m in bed, the friend that takes at least twelve hours to respond to my morning texts. With excitement, anticipation and hope I reached out with an 11:15 p.m. text, “Call me if you’re up and feel like talking.” I waited, a few minutes, got in the car, waited another few minutes, and YES, my car signaled a call! What a fun drive! The 90 minutes went by too quickly, and our conversation was only the tip of the iceberg, so my friend said, as I pulled up to arrivals, and had to say goodbye to one and hello to another.
This friend, my night owl friend, so fortunate, so lucky, so grateful for friends for all times of the day.
